Organization: HOOD CANAL COORDINATING COUNCIL

Job Title: Habitat Assessment Biologist Submission Deadline: February 8, 2008 Job Description: There are two broad and related objectives for this position. The first is to facilitate the development and implementation of voluntary salmon stream habitat and water quality conservation and restoration projects through the lead entity program. The second is to further refine and implement a stream and riverine assessment program to address key uncertainties inherent in summer chum salmon, chinook salmon, bull trout, and steelhead trout recovery plans. Examples of assessment work include working with multiple partners to determine status and trends of stream habitat conditions, the level of intensity required of habitat restoration initiatives in those areas, feasibility for implementing those initiatives, and adaptive management for future projects. To meet these objectives, the successful applicant will coordinate with HCCC staff, member government staff, other salmon and watershed recovery stakeholders in the lead entity program, and landowners, and will provide reports to the HCCC Board as required. This position is currently funded for two years, with additional funding likely, but not guaranteed. To Apply: Please submit a resume, reference, and cover letter citing pertinent experience by February 8, 2008 to www.nwjobs.com. No phone calls, please.
