NPIC WA/BC Annual General Meeting Thursday Aquarium NightThe Point Defiance Zoo is located in the heart of Tacoma and offers breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier, and the Olympic Mountains. With over 792 animals, 98 different species, and 29 acres – the zoo is a true Northwest experience. On the evening on June 7th, we will all be able to enjoy this beautiful location and get up close and personal with many of the sea “creatures” of Puget Sound and beyond. From 7 pm to 10:30 pm, we will be having our social at the Zoo’s North Pacific and South Pacific aquariums. The North Pacific Aquarium is home to the Northwest’s favorites - salmon, rockfish, jellies, bay pipefish, giant Pacific octopus to name but a few. Enjoy the large community exhibit from above, or explore the lower level of the North Pacific Aquarium where familiar landmarks and marine habitats are portrayed in the Around the Sound exhibit gallery. The South Pacific Aquarium is a 24,000-gallon lagoon exhibit featuring dozens of tropical fish, eels, and more than 20 sharks. Outside the aquarium building, peer into the cool waters of the North Pacific Tidepool to find urchins and anemones. The social will include plenty of food and drink, catered by Wild Northwest, so bring your appetite. This activity requires a separate fee of $30 per person, payable through registration. |
